Summary: The La Tomatina Festival in Bunol, Spain takes place on the last Wednesday of August. Anywhere from 40,000-50,000 people
show up to participate. This festival has an interesting history behind it.
In 1945, a fight broke out on the street. The only weapons around were some tomatoes on a vegetable stand nearby, so they threw them at
each other. The police soon broke it up, but after that it was a tradition that stuck.
In 1957 it became legal to throw tomatoes on the street with certain rules and restrictions, and in 1980 the town took the responsibility of organizing
the festival every year. The tomatoes come from Extremaoura which are less
expensive and are grown specifically for the event. Over one million tomatoes are thrown during that one hour of chaos. And to think it at started out with a few tomatoes.

A Forbidden City, a Forbidden Future

The Forbidden City lies aheadclosed and shut off to the worldSilentUnwanted ideas, influencesawait to be let inMaybe I am one of those influencesMy future lies behind closed doorsI must wait out the snow and rainChoosing the time wisely, I amfreeto my new life

I got my picture on page 204 in the history textbook. The one above is as close to the other picture as I could get.

I like your poem. They really did keep unwanted ideas out, too. Mr. Chester

John F. Kennedy's Legend Lives

John Fitzgerald Kennedy is definitely the most influential person in history for two reasons; his perseverance and good attitude. One of the most famous things he has ever done was tow
all the injured men from his boat PT-109 after a Japanese destroyer (Amagiri) hit it. This happened when JFK was in the United States Navy. He was on a nighttime patrol with some other
crew members when disaster struck. A huge impact screwed up his back but he kept going, influencing other members to as well and even towed injured members to a nearby island (like I said.)

Later he wrote a book about this. If you don’t think that is influential for people today when: they are in tough times, in pain, depressed, ect. then there is something wrong with you. Another example of how John F. Kennedy is influential for humankind today is his good attitude towards everything. There are many accounts of his funny humor and wit. If there was ever a sad situation, he would know how to pick it up and turn it into something funny. Also showing good attitude in sports, John Kennedy participated on his high school varsity swim team. Swimming was not the only sport this 35th president enjoyed, but also: golf, sailing, tennis, and checkers. His brother Ted said he played them “with so much joy.” This is important because the youth of America can truly see the good in sports/being healthy. As you can conclude, John Fitzgerald Kennedy is influential today, tomorrow, and forever with his strength to persevere and to have a good time.

Tides

Life is an ocean tide,

there are highs and lows,
raging storms or calm evenings.
Ocean tides can crash hard or
dissolve away softly.
Once it falls,
tides always get back up and keep going.
Ocean tides;
living
breathing
falling......
There are always things looking up
to find some sort of lighted path.
Life
is full of many wonders,
dark creatures,
just an ocean tide.

the video is called Gulp...
the fisherman gulps before the mine explodes
before that he is gulped down
and before that a big fish gulps the... big fish?
uh, bigger fish gulps the big fish
-Kayla
